About Reading Olympics:
At the beginning of the school year all 5th grade students are invited to participate in the Reading Olympics program. Students read the books on a list and compete with each other answering questions about the books. The students answer with the name of the book and the name of its author. School teams are formed (three students each) and the schools meet three times a year for competition. The winning team from each school will move on to the district competition against teams from other Oak Park and River Forest schools! The first two competitions cover nine books apiece. The last competition, held in April, covers the previous 18 books. The team with the best score at this Extreme Competition has the name of the school and their names engraved on a plaque that can be found at both public libraries.
